We use the “Hirakata Acupuncture Method,” which is designed to minimize discomfort. Most patients find the treatment to be virtually painless, so you can feel at ease.
It depends on the cause and severity of your symptoms. For inflammatory or acute conditions, we typically recommend 1 to 2 sessions per week.
In cases involving chronic conditions such as spinal canal stenosis, which are due to structural changes in the bones, treatments are usually once or twice a month.
For temporary sports injuries, one session may be sufficient.
For autonomic nervous system disorders, many patients come once a week for 2 to 3 weeks when symptoms arise.
Some first-time patients or those with poor circulation may experience mild fatigue after treatment, but this usually resolves within a day.
In rare cases, patients with liver or kidney conditions may experience a slight fever, but this is typically due to the activation of organ function and is not a cause for concern.
In areas where symptoms are present, you may experience a dull, heavy sensation, which is called ‘deqi’ in acupuncture. This sensation is often more noticeable due to the proximity of nerves, making these areas more sensitive to pain. Although this indicates the acupuncture is having an effect, please inform me immediately if the discomfort becomes too intense.
Moxibustion is not typically used in the Hirakata Acupuncture Method.
However, for conditions like infertility or breech baby cases, we may incorporate it.
If you enjoy moxibustion, we also offer a gentle warming technique using ceramic tools.
If time allows, we may include 10 to 15 minutes of traditional Anma-Shiatsu massage.
In a typical session, we treat the back, waist, and legs while you are lying face-down, then move to your neck and head in a face-up position.
In general, health insurance is not applicable for our services.
However, for patients who are bedridden and unable to visit the clinic on their own, government-subsidized medical care (ryōyōhi) may be available.
In such cases, a prior medical referral or doctor’s consent form is required.
We use a card reader to scan your My Number Card to confirm your insurance status.
Insurance verification is required when using ryōyōhi or municipality-issued vouchers for acupuncture and massage treatment.
